Poisonous Cough Syrup Tyno kills 18 in Lahore



Reko Pharmacal, the manufacturer of Tyno Cough Syrup and other huge variety of un-tested herbal medicines have been accused taking the lives 18 people as of today – Tuesday, and many of the other victims are fighting the battle of their lives in Meo Hospital. The first death occurred near Shahdra Town of a local drug addict who used this syrup to get high. Later on the deaths continued and took the lives of innocent people.
The issue was taken seriously by the Punjab Health Department and critical measures have been taken to stop more. The pharmaceutical manufacturer company has been sealed by the local police and also the distributors have been notified to stop the supply of this syrup and all medicines from the manufacturer. Apart from the suppliers, more than 150 local medical stores have been raided and shut down since they were selling unauthorized syrup while the rest have been notified by the health officers. Police with the help of health officers are trying their best to remove every single bottle of Tyno syrup from the market.
This murder case has been filed against the owner and manufacturer and the police have successfully located the owner and brought to the court. The court has sent the culprits to the Shahdra Town Police for four days physical remand and further investigation.
Shahbaz Shareef has given 72 hours to submit the report regarding the issue and Government of Punjab is trying the best to remove the Tyno Syrup completely from the market to save further lives of innocent people.

  5. There needs to be a transparent pharmacy audit system in which each and every medicine and drug should be tested and approved by specialists.

    i believe that there are more of them playing with innocent lives.. the govt should target all and not this 1 company..

  8. This is not one case.. There are several cases.. People die everyday due to non authorized medicines.. Pakistan healths ministry should take strict action. This is MURDERING for the sake of profit.

  11. These are all fake tricks played by media to promote violence in public. There are thousands of positive aspects that can be catered in our country inspite of scattering just negitive side that can be negligible in any case.

    I hope we get to right path :( so sad to hear about this incident, innocent people killed by experimenting drugs before testing... Disasterous act!

  12. Simply tragic to hear about the deaths of the innocent, no wonder where this country is going to end. anybody heard about the paracetamol incident? I heard Mr. Rehman malik has sold the formula to some company outside Pakistan for millions and now its production has been stopped. God save the rest!

  13. This is absolutely ridiculous.such pharmaceutical companies are selling death instead of health to the innocent people.The Govt should take immediate and stern action against those who are involved in this and an example should be set for the rest of the world.

  14. Very very sad news! If we cannot trust the medical system of our country then what is left?
    The other news of negligence at hospitals where new born babies got bitten by rats is an eye opener for the government to take action.

  17. Not good for us, why this syrup was sold? was it used for some type of drug addiction? This type of medicine should be totaly banned and government should have a proper check on the quality of these medicines.
