Excessive use of Drugs and Alcohol in High class Families of Pakistan

The new era has brought many things revolutionary in our country few show positivity but few of them are damaging the real culture of Pakistan and usage of alcohols and other drugs in high class families of Pakistan is one of the example of this revolution. Especially the younger generation of this class has made alcohol their style and status symbol with a mind that a person who does not drink is not fashionable. Many high class parties are a great reflection of how culture and ethics can be crushed under feet due to excessive use of drugs and alcohol in them. People use a so called word “Going Wild” in these parties. This wild word means that u have full permission to tear of your cloths of elegance, pettiness, humbleness, and all other factors that make a person’s personality.

The factor of COOL and UNCOOL is spreading like an epidemic disease in universities, colleges and even in schools. The kids who are on straight path and are trying to protect themselves from such addictions are known as UNCOOL NERDS and kids who prefer drugs in parties over studies and healthy activities are referred as THE COOL PEOPLE. Here is when the trigger snaps being referred as UNCOOL NERDS can provoke kids to take serious steps either they get sick of depression or they get addicted to THE COOL STUFF and ruin their lives.

The families who have parents addicted to alcohol or smoking tobacco should at least avoid doing them in front of their children. Universities, Colleges and Schools should conduct workshops telling kids that how much drugs and alcohol can harm them, but most importantly when drugs will be banned strictly and will not be easily available so the ratio of drugs abuse can come down to a large extent. I think some of the major reasons are that in Pakistan drugs like alcohol and heroin are strictly prohibited but it’s available on a large scale and no one is checking over them, it’s so obvious when such things are available easily so why won’t people buy them? As it’s the COOL factor of the society know a days. So who is to blame the youth, their families or the system? What I think is everyone has to contribute their part.

  1. The govt should take action against this problem, and inspect carefully the things that come in this country. Drinking alcohol is hazardous to health and smuggling of liquor should be stopped.

  5. Well its a curse that in such a society where relgious and moral values were considered as jewels of a person; such demonic and corrupt products are creeping in the lives of ordinary people at a feverish pace and in due process ruining the very fabric of values on which this society stood.
I propose action should be taken on this problem as mere words can't solve it and in rightly doing so this problem should be discussed at the highest level until a solution is devised because as rightly mentioned by author that the COOL and UNCOOL divide can seriously hamper our youth and in process whole nation. Leaving nothing of this already striving nation. Thumbs up for raising this issue.. :)

  6. well, almost every aspect of the topic has been covered by you Huzaifa.
you are right, the easy access has contributed a lot to excessive use of these drugs and government should definitely show concern about it.

  8. it is a veri interesting topic. As the ratio of drugs has been increasing day by day.Its a fashion in high class families and it is addiction in also in lower class families. As few days ago, I saw a press conference of Chief Minister Balochistan in while addressing to the people he lose his senses, due to drugs. He drunk alot . It is also very popular in high authority families. Government should have to take serious action on it, in order to make our country clean from this bad things.

    Dear Sir,
Before I give my opinion of your article, I wish to let you know that I neither endorse the use of drugs nor do I have any inclination to do so. I realize that peer pressure is one of the most important factors leading to addiction to drugs but you are ignoring the basic liberty of choice. I am certain that every one who chooses to indulge in drugs is not forced to do do. They should have enough knowledge and moral fibre to be able to resist such peer pressure.
Moreover, you have neither bothered defining what 'A High class Family of Pakistan' is supposed to mean nor have you touched upon the conditions prevailing in other economic based echleons of the society.
Lastly, I find it outrageous that you suggest that ' it’s so obvious when such things are available easily so why won’t people buy them? ' I am sorry but I can not agree with this statement. As I stated previously, I firmly believe that everyone has a choice. Think of it this way... You do have the choice of taking your own life, does this mean that you would, or maybe you should? I don't think so. The choice of taking up drugs isn't any different.
    Take care.

It is a very good topic and has been raised now and then. And as always, people are referring to the government to take preventive measures. However, one point that I would like to raise is that it is not just the government who has the duty and responsibility to mend its actions against this 'epidemic disease', as Huzaifa has called it; it is equally our responsibility to influence and change our attitudes and of those around us.
Perhaps not as quick and efficient as govt action, but doing so certainly would bring a longer lasting halt to such activities.

  13. government should take an initiative by controlling these sort of activities like they have controlled sheesha smoking by banning it.overall a very positive effort hope this has a positive effect.

  14. a positive approach to the present increasing social issues these kind of issues should be highlighted for the awareness of people

    ReplyDelete
  15. Strict measures should be tqken against the use, supply and manufacturing of such drinks and drugs, because more than the higher class families, more locally made drugs and drinks, being harmful, are used by the lower class families.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Government should be working on this situation. The supply of alcoholic drinks should be banned and only a few specified retailers should be given license to sell such drinks to only Non-Muslims upon showing their ID and proving themselves as Non-Muslims. Any shop or store selling such drinks or drugs without Government permission should be sealed off. Manufacturing of any kind of drugs or weeds or Alcoholic drinks should be banned in the country. Any person relating to such manufacturing should be taken into jury.

  17. addiction of drugs is increasing day by dAY AND govt. should take steps to overcome this issue as it is one of the major issues in the current Ara...

  18. Ok so here it is...! Wat u came up with is a great work! But I wasn't able to understand few things;
Firstly, who do u think is gonna take a strict action against the use of alcohol? Government? Y would dey do dat when they themselves use it? Supreme court? Y would dey do dat when your Lawyers and judges also use it? So whose gonna bring the change? We? R we gonna bring the change? We, who don't have enough guts to actually point out those guys in our society who use it! We, who can't call police to tell them that our neighbour is using drugs! Still WE?, who think that it is better to maintain our reputation than to improve the society!, We, who think dat dey become COOL when dey don't pay taxes, We, who consider FRAUD as a great thing, n try to dat every time we get a chance!
Still we? YES! I believe we r da only hope, da only light! But before we do anything we have to change ourselves, we have to become strong, we have to do what's right, without fearing the outcome, we have to believe in ourselves! So my friend that will be the point when we'll be strong enough to take action or to convince/ force government to completely ban it!

Secondly, after reading your blog I got an impression that only elite class uses it! Well if that's exactly what u were trying to say then my friend em afraid ur wrong! People at lower level also use it! U might have heard dat some people died in MULTAN as they drank poisonous wine! Or u might have seen few dramas in which they have showed people at lower level drinking! So we are not suppose to blame elie class only!

There was a point in which u wrote that parents have some responsibilities, well I totally agree! U see, when a child just six/ seven years old comes to c dat his family is smoking SHEESHA, wouldn't he want to smoke it?, he would n might be allowed to smoke it, n when he'll grow up in a society where SHEESHA is fun, den don't u think he'll try to go to a bit higher stage?, I guess he will, n den he will start to try all other things available!

I guess that's all I have to say! N it's just my own personal opinion!

  19. I personally don't think the high class people are the one's having excessive use of drugs. Anybody can be trapped in this bad habit. I have seen poor people taking drugs. The Government should take measures to stop this ongoing trend.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh nice job man it's quite a nice article to be read. Well I don't know a lot about this but what I'm sure of is that it would certainly get the government look into this issue so keep on writing such articles

    ReplyDelete
  21. Every aspect of this topic is covered by huzaifa.. Good job..Government should look into this issue as this will result in a betterment of it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. the use of drugs is common in these days which harms the people health.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well this article covers all things.i must say you have chosen the right topic. Our government should take serious action.

    ReplyDelete
  24. It's realy important issue, has been debated greatly by Ahmed Huzaifa...!Drugs & alcohol have become the worst eveils of our society today,as a fashion in the Elite class and as a releasing source from depression in lower status. There are many elements of it,such as,ill-literacy,lack of awareness, careless behviours of parents, and especially the poor performance of Government of Pakistan. So,not only our authority should take strict action over it,but also print media & electronic media should pay their role to stop prevalence of it anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  25. these things should be highlighted in pakistan

    ReplyDelete
  26. Drugs addiction is harmful not only for the addicted but also has negative impact on the fabric of the society.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The effects of such an addiction can cause dangerous changes in the mind, body and spirit of the drug addict.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The most disturbing aspect of drug addiction is that it is reaching epidemic proportions in the whole world. People in our part of the world are increasingly becoming addicted to all kinds of drugs including street drugs and prescription drugs etc.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Street drugs include cocaine, heroin and crack, marijuana and meth, while prescription drugs include those such as Valium, OxyContin, Percocet and Ritalin etc.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The price of drugs can be very heavy.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Simple ill-effects of such addiction include physical itchiness, coma and even premature death.

    ReplyDelete
  32. On the other hand, the psychological ill effects can make a person become completely dependent on taking drugs in order to survive.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Drugs addiction is a very serious problem and even if the addict is using prescribed drugs, the ill effects can be very harmful indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  34. It is, therefore, important that the government takes administrative, legal and policy measures that put an end to the menace of drug addiction.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The right kind of information can help the addict avoid overdosing and it can also prevent medical-related complications.

    ReplyDelete
  36. The ill effects of addiction to drugs can be very difficult to endure, which is why the addict must be treated for their condition at the earliest.
