Overseas Nationals, for any country, are truly the
ambassadors of the home country. They represent the home country in every
means. There are currently 6.3 million Pakistanis living abroad (3% of the
population), and the number is increasing rapidly. Overseas Pakistani forms the
backbone of our country by contributing to the National Income. They send
remittances on a regular basis to their loved ones residing home. That money is
then circulated in the already tumbling down economy of Pakistan and stables
the economy to some extent. In the recent research, Pakistan is ranked #10 in
the world of remittances sent home in 2012 standing at $13 billion.
Overseas
Pakistanis have on a regular basis contributed to the National calamities that
have struck our mother land. Who doesn’t know the flood relief activities by
overseas in 2010 summer? And the 2005 Earth quake that struck the lives of
hundreds and thousands of Pakistanis. Both of these disasters were one the
biggest in Pakistan history and with a weak economy of ours, we were still able
to recover and recover well. This would have not been possible with the massive
flood relief funds and other life saving equipments sent to the disaster hit
areas. They have shown to the world that they are standing side by side with
the fellow citizens no matter what happens.
Overseas Pakistanis have helped to keep the culture
and traditions alive no matter which part of the world they are residing in.
May it be Basant, Eid celebrations, 14th August Independence day,
wedding styles, Chand raat, Ramadan. Its amazing to see how they celebrate all
these events irrespective of the consequences they could face from the local
governments. Local Pakistani communities live in unity and are always ready to
help.
Although
the numbers of Pakistanis leaving home country to reside abroad are increasing
day by day, may it be due to unstable Economic and Political condition of the
country, their hearts still beat for the motherland. They may be physically
present in any part of the world but they will be emotionally attached to
Pakistan. It’s the feeling that they cannot and will not want detach. It’s the
feeling of being a Pakistani.

ReplyDeleteon this behalf our Quaid Muhammad Ali Jinnah quite rightly said "The great majority of us are Muslims. We follow the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed (may peace be upon him). We are members of the brotherhood of Islam in which all are equal in rights, dignity and self-respect. Consequently, we have a special and a very deep sense of unity. But make no mistake: Pakistan is not a theocracy or anything like it.”
ReplyDeleteI partially agree with u, as i have heard that many Pakistanis living abroad are ruining the image of Pakistan.
