Manufacturing Industry of Pakistan

Its 21st century and still Pakistan is lacking in the production of electricity and natural gas. Who to blame for this? Looters Politicians of Pakistan who are so busy in enjoying the tax money or the public itself who are so habituated to the current situation that they do not bother about what is going to happen with their country. Well it’s not the public; it’s the other way round. Anyhow the electricity and natural gas are serious issues for the manufacturing industry of Pakistan. If this is the situation then how come Pakistan can improve its production in manufacturing sector. Pakistan's industrial sector accounts for about 24% of GDP, this figure can be improved if the above constraints are solved.

Starting with the textile industry of Pakistan, practically more than partial of the industry is
situated in Faislabad. In my recent visit to Faislabad I sensed a lot of problems which this industry is facing and major of all is the electricity. Textile industry like Nishat can afford a private electricity plant but the small industries are only dependent on WAPDA. For this they have an alternative i.e. Generators but this cost them highly and due to this many of the small industries have been shut down. Textile products have a large ratio in the exports of Pakistan. Measures have to be taken for this; initially Pakistan has to produce enough electricity to fulfill the demands of the public because these types of industries are greatly dependent on electricity. New dams should be built; small turbines should be constructed on the canals of Pakistan. By doing so we can overcome a large part of this issue.

Industries dependent on the natural gas used as a raw material are also facing a enormous problem. Pakistan is not able to produce natural gas even there are large reservoirs of it in the Balochistan province, they are not extracting it. Ceramics industry of Pakistan which was never blackout for years, continuous production was done over years but now it has to break its production after every 20 days just because of the low pressure of natural gas. This creates a lot of unemployment because ceramics work is all done my manual labour most probably.  Moreover other than unemployment industries have to face a huge loss because of ending and restoring the production.  Government of Pakistan has to take serious steps towards this industry as they provide a fat volume of employment and contribute essentially to the GDP of Pakistan.

  3. The government should stop using funds given to them for there own leisure but use it to set up more industries, use the current as well as hidden resources to make this possible. Development and efficient running of these industries will lead to a prosperous Pakistan.

  5. All the revenue generated from taxes goes to our politicians and no one can say anything to them or do anything about it. I believe if everyone takes a stand against unfair resource allocation in our country this problem can be solved in seconds :)

  6. Standing against the politicians would do us no good to be honest, we need to correct ourselves in the first place and then move on :)

  7. Load-shedding is not just affecting these industries, its affecting the whole economy. Their are thousands of factories, small scale and large scale, thay have whatsoever no means of getting cheap electricity. Still to survive they have small generators but the cost of running them is not affordable for many. Load-shedding issue should be the top priority for any government that comes in the next 2013 elevtions.

  9. Pakistan is one of the few countries in this world blessed with all natural and physical resources to produce anything locally. Honesty is the only thing that we are lacking in. We should stand United and say no to corruption and dishonestly.

  10. Pakistan needs a new leader to lead its people just like Quaid-e-Azam did in making a separate nation for his people. Whereas, technology is concerned Pakistan has all the latest equipments and gadgets necessary for the production of electricity and any other purpose; it just needs the implementation of certain rules and regulations which will in-turn grant prosperity to the country.

  14. Sir We need a system which will give education with understanding, wisdom and ability to think. When we will be able to think beyond our emotional attachments based on our education, only then we can chose good leaders. All of them are busy in increasing their own assets.Pakistan can never make progress unless these people OR their family members are ruling. Leaders should represent the people. Education will give us opportunity to think about the betterment of our country by thinking beyond emotional attachment to our politicians, political parties, provinces and personal benefits

  20. Pakistan is more into agriculture , most population live in rural area.industry sector of Pakistan is much less than agriculture sector. so my point is that Agriculture sector should be improved more than industry.as Basic requirement of industry is oil gas and coal, these are less available and expensive.Poor people doesnot have enough money to setup an industry but it doesnot mean that industry should be left aside it needs a lot of improvement which should be carried out also.
